Bacon, born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and now residing in Papillion, emphasizes the importance of engaging with diverse viewpoints.
On July 5, 2025, Rep. Bacon referenced an article from The Wall Street Journal stating “The GOP reforms to food stamps and Medicaid are common-sense ideas that have public support.” He added that under the proposed bill, Medicaid spending would actually increase while ensuring protection for children, disabled adults, and others reliant on the safety net.
In a post dated July 6, 2025, Rep. Bacon highlighted the value of engaging in dialogue with those holding different opinions. He expressed “It is important to not only talk with groups who agree us but it is important to have civil dialogue and debate with those who we don’t see eye to eye with.” Bacon noted @AliVelshi as a conducive platform for respectful discussions.
Later on July 6th, Rep. Bacon invited followers to view a discussion he had with @AliVelshi on @MSNBC about a reconciliation bill designed to prevent financial strain on middle-class families in Nebraska. He tweeted “WATCH: Great discussion with @AliVelshi on @MSNBC about the reconciliation bill that prevents a $141 monthly tax increase on middle-class Nebraskan families.”
Don Bacon’s educational background includes graduating from Northern Illinois University in 1984 and furthering his studies at the University of Phoenix.
