Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted local initiatives and legislative actions in a series of posts on August 14, 2025.

In a post made at 20:26 UTC, Bacon praised the work of the Munroe-Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, stating: “Through innovative research, educational programs, and compassionate patient care, @unmc_mmi is a vital resource for our community. The institute offers diagnosis and treatment for developmental disorders, support for families, and are a leading advocate for our most vulnerable.”

Later that evening at 20:57 UTC, Bacon commented on his meeting with education leaders: “Great meeting with our local superintendents and school board members. Meaningful change in our school systems starts with parent involvement and innovative leadership. I commend our school leadership on their commitment to our younger generations & thank them for their service.”

At 20:59 UTC the same day, Bacon shared news about his legislative efforts concerning Social Security tax deductions: “I voted for The One, Big, Beautiful Bill to raise middle- and low-income seniors’ Social Security tax deduction to $6,000. Now 90% of our seniors won’t pay taxes on their benefits!”

Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. His educational background includes degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
