Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing topics ranging from military leadership to public health and international affairs.
On August 18, 2025, Bacon reflected on his time at military colleges alongside General Dave Allvin, stating: “I attended Air Command and Staff College and also National War College with General Dave Allvin. He was a Distinguished Graduate at both schools. He’s been a great leader… and he’s been a great friend.”
The following day, August 19, Bacon highlighted challenges in diagnosing Lyme disease and announced legislative efforts to improve detection and treatment: “While most cases of Lyme disease can be treated within 10-14 days, diagnosis is difficult because of a lack of reliable testing options. I’m pleased to join @RepJoshG in introducing legislation that will help find new ways to diagnose & better treat long-term symptoms for the”
Later on August 19, Bacon commented on peace negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine: “I fully support peace negotiations. But saying Ukraine can have peace tomorrow if they want is a statement asking them to capitulate to Russia’s invasion. We should negotiate with moral clarity knowing Russia started this war with its ruthless invasion. We shouldn’t reward”
Bacon has served as the congressional representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he resides in Papillion and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
