Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving as the U.S. Congressman for Nebraska’s 2nd district, shared updates on social media about recent recognitions and events related to national service and free speech.
On September 19, 2025, Bacon posted his gratitude for an award received from a state commission, writing: “Thank you @statecommission for the 2025 Friend of ASC Award recognizing our team’s efforts to strengthen national service, AmeriCorps, and community volunteerism. We remain committed to supporting vital programs through Serve Nebraska and across our nation.”
Later that day, he acknowledged Georgetown University’s Free Speech Project for hosting him in a campus discussion. Bacon stated: “Thank you to @FreeSpeechGU at Georgetown University for hosting a meaningful discussion on free speech in America, the future of the Republican party, and more! Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and resides in Papillion. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University earned in 1984 and further studies at the University of Phoenix.
