Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, has highlighted the progress of his bipartisan “Back the Blue Act” through a series of posts on social media.
On August 12, 2025, Bacon posted: “Thank you to the @NatPoliceAssoc for endorsing the Back the Blue Act! My bipartisan legislation I introduced with @RepGolden seeks to ensure that those who risk their lives to protect others are afforded greater protections.”
The following day, he updated followers on the bill’s legislative status: “Actually this bill passed the House in May and is now waiting action in the Senate. This was a top priority by NE02’s local law enforcement.” The reference to “NE02” denotes Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district.
Later that same day, Bacon shared another brief message: “Simple Man”.
Bacon succeeded Brad Ashford as representative of Nebraska’s 2nd district in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and is an alumnus of Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
