Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates and opinions on social media regarding local public media funding and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

On August 20, 2025, Bacon posted about his visit to a local broadcaster: “Visited Nebraska Public Media today to visit their new studios and get a quick interview in. We spoke about the assurance I received from House leadership for funding for local public media.”

Later that evening, on August 21, 2025, Bacon commented on the situation in Eastern Europe: “It seems clear to me that Putin wants to continue bombing Ukrainian cities and butcher thousands of Russian soldiers for a few acres of land.”

In another post made shortly afterward on August 21, Bacon critiqued an online comment: “This is the dumbest comment I’ve seen on ‘X’ today.”

Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon earned his undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University and later graduated from the University of Phoenix.
