Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several topics in a series of posts on July 22, 2025, ranging from research funding to bipartisan cooperation.
In one post, Bacon emphasized the value of scientific inquiry: “I believe in research. Research makes us more productive, helps us feed the world, and gets us through droughts and diseases.” (July 22, 2025).
Addressing concerns about federal funding for education, Bacon stated: “There is concern OMB is holding back funding already appropriated by Congress and issued by the Department of Education. I’ve sent a letter to OMB and am engaging with the White House to make sure these funds are released.” (July 22, 2025).
On political negotiation and ideology, Bacon wrote: “Good people can disagree. I think I go on that premise. I’m a Reagan conservative, but in the end you have to come up with the best agreement you can and shake hands.” (July 22, 2025).
Bacon has served as Nebraska’s 2nd District representative since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he currently resides in Papillion. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
