Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, shared a series of posts on August 25, 2025, addressing topics ranging from local events to international relations and congressional ethics.
In his first post of the day, Bacon encouraged participation in a local event: “If you get a chance, go to the Nebraska State Fair! It is a wonderful experience and the kids love it.” (August 25, 2025).
Later that morning, Bacon commented on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine: “We didn’t negotiate with Hitler or Tojo to end WW2. That said, I’m all for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, but anyone with any wisdom knows Putin cannot be trusted and should have moral clarity on who started this war & who is committing crimes against humanity everyday.” (August 25, 2025).
In another post that afternoon, Bacon addressed congressional stock trading practices: “I support the stock ban for members of Congress. I only buy mutual funds. At a minimum, members who buy stocks give an appearance of using inside information to prosper. At worst, we know some who have abused their position. Citizens should know we are making decisions for the” (August 25, 2025).
Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
