Rep. Don Bacon, U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of updates on July 31, 2025, covering topics ranging from international cooperation to community concerns and intern recognition.
In his first post of the day, Bacon highlighted a meeting with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Rep. Ro Khanna: “.@RepRoKhanna and I met with the President of Mexico @Claudiashein yesterday. Our two countries have much to gain through collaboration on mutual security threats, trade, and border security. I was very impressed with the cyber operations cooperation.” (July 31, 2025). The meeting addressed issues such as security threats, trade relations, border management, and cyber operations between the United States and Mexico.
Later that evening, Bacon marked Intern Appreciation Day by recognizing interns at a recent event: “Happy Intern Appreciation Day! During last week’s Nebraska Breakfast we celebrated our hardworking interns who help keep our offices running smoothly. As an intern back in 1984, I know firsthand the valuable experience and opportunities that come with serving in these roles.” (July 31, 2025).
In another post the same night, Bacon expressed concern about ongoing phone scams targeting vulnerable populations: “I sure hope the FBI is investigating the “tax review” scam that everyone is getting phone multiple calls about. These crooks prey on the seniors and most vulnerable. They need to behind bars and their phones taken away.” (July 31, 2025).
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District in Congress since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon earned his undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University in 1984 before completing further studies at the University of Phoenix.
