Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on March 18, 2026, highlighting local pride and support for space exploration funding.
In one post at 5:25 p.m., Bacon wrote “Nebraska Nice! https://t.co/619rjkYrFM”. Later that day at 6:33 p.m., he addressed the nation’s history in space programs and called for increased NASA funding: “From the Apollo missions to today’s Artemis program, America’s pioneering spirit has long defined our leadership in both manned and unmanned space exploration. To sustain that leadership, I’m pleased to join more than 100 of my colleagues requesting $9B for NASA Science. https://t.co/kcPmjqG7ow”. At 8:43 p.m., Bacon added another message reflecting on his home state’s reputation for friendliness: “Nebraska Nice even to a mad Turk. https://t.co/GPMY0jQAw9”.
Don Bacon has served as the representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
