Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, voiced strong support for the Baltic Security Initiative in a series of posts on September 10, 2025.
Bacon began his remarks by announcing an ongoing event: Live now! https://t.co/OhSPomPe8w (posted September 10, 2025).
He then offered a statement of support for the Baltic nations and their partnership with the United States: “I 100% support the Baltic Security Initiative. All three countries, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, are our best of friends. They are among our closest Allies. They embrace freedom, democracy, free markets and the rule of law. No one has embraced America and our values like the” (posted September 10, 2025).
In a subsequent post on the same day, Bacon highlighted the defense efforts of these countries: “The Baltics lead the way on defense spending. They spend more on defense per GDP than America. They’ve done more per GDP to help Ukraine than America. They lead by example.”
The Baltic Security Initiative is a U.S.-backed program designed to bolster military cooperation and security assistance for Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania—three NATO member states that have increased their defense budgets in response to regional security threats.
Bacon’s public statements reflect his ongoing engagement with foreign policy issues as a congressional representative from Nebraska’s 2nd District—a position he has held since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
