Representative Don Bacon, who has served Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared updates regarding his legislative efforts on national defense. Bacon, born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, announced a series of amendments to the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (FY26 NDAA).
On July 16, 2025, Bacon reported that two of his amendments had been adopted by the House Armed Services Committee Republicans. In his post, he stated: “@HASCRepublicans just adopted my 14th and 15th #FY26NDAA amendments directing DoD to establish a Civil Reserve Manufacturing Network and to prepare digital manufacturing transition plans for critical components.”
Shortly thereafter on the same day, Bacon announced another development: “@HASCRepublicans just adopted my 16th & final #FY26NDAA amendment directing DoD to prepare an implementation plan to establish a Joint Task Force Cyber for the Indo-Pacific area of operations.”
Later that morning, Bacon shared news about the committee vote on the overall bill: “#FY26NDAA just passed committee 55-2! We had 16 amendments included in the bill.”
Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix. He replaced Brad Ashford as representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District.
