Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on his recent activities via social media this week, highlighting both his legislative duties and local educational engagements.
On July 25, 2025, Bacon posted about his role in Congress: “It was an honor to preside over the House Floor this week while representing Nebraska’s Second District.”
Later that day, he highlighted a visit with international guests at a local university: “Baroness Owen of Alderley Ridge and @PeterABedford joined me @UNOmaha to learn about their innovative AI and Cyber courses of study at the College of Information Science & Technology” (July 25, 2025).
In another post from July 25, Bacon described a visit to Kids Can Omaha with the same guests: “I’m hosting two visitors from across the pond! @PeterABedford and Baroness Owen of Alderley Edge joined me at @kidscanomaha to learn about our education models, and compare STEM and screen time challenges. Kids Can uses Harry Potter in some of their robotic lessons!”
Bacon has served as the congressional representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
