Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently highlighted legislative and security initiatives in a series of tweets posted on July 29, 2025.
In one post, Bacon emphasized his support for law enforcement officers, stating: “We must ensure those who risk their lives to protect others are afforded greater protections. I introduced the bipartisan Back the Blue Act to create new criminal provisions regarding the killing of, or attempting, or conspiring to kill federal law enforcement officers, U.S.” (July 29, 2025).
Addressing border security and crime rates in another tweet from the same day, Bacon wrote: “Border security was one of the top two issues in the last election and @DHSgov & @POTUS are delivering real results. Violent crime is declining as we enforce our laws & keep dangerous criminals off our streets. Great work by our federal law enforcement.” (July 29, 2025).
Later that day, Bacon reported on a meeting with Mexican officials: “.@RepRoKhanna and I met with Mexico’s Secretary of National Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo. Mexican & American military cooperation has improved significantly in recent years, and that equates to saving lives on both sides of the border.” (July 29, 2025).
Bacon has served as Nebraska’s representative since succeeding Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion at age 59, he holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
