Rep. Don Bacon, who has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, addressed issues of national security and local achievement in a series of tweets on December 15, 2025.
In his first post of the day, Bacon emphasized the importance of nuclear deterrence capabilities for the United States: “We must strengthen our nuclear command & control survivability to ensure we deter Russia & China from ever contemplating a strategic attack. Nuclear weapons can now hit anywhere in the U.S. within 15 minutes. We need a 24/7 airborne command & control capability (it’s called” (December 15, 2025).
A few hours later, Bacon posted a tweet containing only a link: “https://t.co/DBDZ0oFOJs” (December 15, 2025). The content or context of this link was not specified in his public posts.
Later that evening, Bacon recognized young constituents who had received military academy nominations: “I’m pleased to announce the 18 young men & women who have received nominations to our military academies. Congratulations to these high school students from Nebraska’s 2nd District, as well as to their parents, families, and mentors, who have helped them reach this milestone.” (December 15, 2025).
Don Bacon has served as a member of Congress for Nebraska’s 2nd District since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon is an alumnus of Northern Illinois University and also holds a degree from the University of Phoenix.
