Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, used his social media platform in early April 2026 to comment on issues ranging from fraud targeting vulnerable populations to international security concerns.
On April 4, Bacon posted about legislative efforts aimed at protecting veterans and the elderly from fraudulent schemes. He wrote, “I cannot stand scammers, and they love to target veterans and the elderly. I support multiple pieces of legislation to target these scammers. Fraudsters deserve prison bars.”
Later that day, Bacon marked the anniversary of NATO, emphasizing its importance for U.S. security and global stability. In his post he stated, “Today marks 77 great years of @NATO, the most successful alliance in history. The U.S. is stronger when NATO is strong and cohesive, something I saw firsthand while serving in NATO. We need our allies to counter threats from China, Russia, and Iran. We cannot do it alone.”
On April 5, Bacon addressed ongoing violence in Ukraine with a pointed question: “Will Russia stop bombing Ukrainian cities and murdering civilians?”
Bacon has been active in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and now residing in Papillion, he graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
