Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to express support for physical fitness initiatives in schools and advocate for continued collaboration between the military and Scouting America.
On December 8, 2025, Bacon posted about a meeting with Muscle & Fitness, stating: “Met with @muscle_fitness to discuss ways to encourage daily physical activity in schools & inspire youth to stay healthy & ready to serve. Thank you @POTUS for bringing back the Presidential Fitness Test, a program I’ve long supported. Physical fitness must be a higher priority.”
Later that day, he voiced his support for scouting organizations with a brief statement: “We support the Scouts.” On December 9, Bacon addressed concerns regarding potential changes in military support for Scouting America by sharing part of a letter: “We write with significant concern over reports that the military could move to cut ties with Scouting America, withdraw support from the National Jamboree, and prohibit Scout troops from meeting at military bases. We urge you to maintain the robust relationship between Scouting”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1984 and later earned a degree from the University of Phoenix.
