Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on July 26, 2025, addressing federal funding for Nebraska schools, political polling data, and national cybersecurity concerns.
In a post made at 5:20 a.m. UTC on July 26, Rep. Bacon announced that “We received good news that OMB released the $40M that was appropriated for Nebraska’s schools that was put on hold. Our schools had already budgeted for this money and signed contracts. We worked together and got this fixed.”
Later that morning at 12:27 p.m. UTC, Bacon cited reporting from The Wall Street Journal regarding public perception of major political parties: “WSJ: ‘The Democratic Party’s image has eroded to its lowest point in over three decades, according to a new poll, with voters seeing the GOP as the better option on most issues that decide elections.'”
In another update at 2:21 p.m. UTC the same day, Bacon addressed ongoing cybersecurity threats from foreign actors: “China & Russia conduct cyber attacks against America daily to include our energy grid, healthcare, communications networks, etc. We need action:
1. Strengthen CISA that defends our infrastructure.
2. Expand Cyber Command. China’s force is 10X larger.
3. Nominate a Commander”
Don Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion after being born in Momence, Illinois in 1963.
He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
As representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017,
