Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on social media regarding Palm Sunday, tax relief for service industry workers, and congressional authority over tariffs.
On March 29, Bacon posted a message marking the beginning of Holy Week: “Angie and I wish everyone a blessed Palm Sunday as we begin this Holy Week together.”
The following day, he addressed recent tax changes affecting tipped workers: “Six million Americans across the service industry are finally getting real relief. Through the Working Families Tax Cuts, tipped workers will take home $1,300 more on average, thanks to the No Tax on Tips that applies to the first $25,000 in tipped income they make.” This policy aims to increase take-home pay for those in the service sector by exempting a portion of their tips from taxation.
Later on March 30, Bacon commented on congressional responsibilities regarding tariffs: “Thank you @CenterForwardUS for inviting me to speak on tariffs. Article One, Section Eight, Clause One of the Constitution gives Congress authority over taxes and tariffs. Congress must stand on its own two feet and do its job when it comes to tariffs.”
Bacon has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later attended the University of Phoenix.
