Rep. Don Bacon, Chair of the House Traumatic Brain Injury Caucus and U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, highlighted advancements in traumatic brain injury research and commented on national security issues in a series of posts on December 7, 2025.
In one post, Bacon discussed recent progress in detecting concussions: “As a Chair of the House Traumatic Brain Injury Caucus, I’ve led efforts to fund research on how to detect & treat TBI. We now have methods to detect concussions within minutes of an injury using blood samples. This is vitally important for our military, sports & first responders.” (December 7, 2025)
Later that day, Bacon addressed concerns about U.S. foreign policy: “Our new National Security Strategy sounds like our 1930s foreign policy. Most Americans want a strong U.S. role in NATO, and know China, Russia and Iran are our adversaries.” (December 7, 2025)
He also marked the anniversary of Pearl Harbor with a reflection on military preparedness: “We will never forget the ‘Date which will live in infamy.’ Remember Pearl Harbor. Isolationism and underinvestment in our military left us unprepared 84 years ago.” (December 7, 2025)
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since replacing Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
