Rep. Don Bacon, U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, used his social media platform on August 10, 2025, to highlight legislative efforts and express views on current policy debates.
In one post, Bacon addressed the issue of toxic exposure among ICBM veterans: “Michael’s story is heartbreaking, and far too many ICBM veterans face similar battles with toxic exposure & cancer. I secured a provision in #FY26NDAA for a thorough independent review of missileer conditions. Our service members deserve answers & action.” (August 10, 2025). This statement follows ongoing national concerns about the health impacts faced by military personnel assigned to missile operations.
Later that day, Bacon commented on ideological divisions within conservatism: “Folks like Mr Pfaff don’t get to define conservatism. His isolationist, protectionist, price control and conspiracy laden views are more akin to 1970s Democrat or 1930s Republican views. I’ve offered plans on how to balance the budget, but Pfaff would have no spine for it.” (August 10, 2025).
Bacon also referenced his support for law enforcement through legislation: “This is why I sponsored the Back the Blue Act. Folks who target those who protect us deserve tougher sentences and punishment.” (August 10, 2025).
Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix. Since succeeding Brad Ashford in Congress in 2017, Bacon has taken positions on defense health issues and public safety legislation as part of his representation of Nebraska’s Second District.
