Rep. Don Bacon, who has represented Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently used social media to outline legislative initiatives and defense priorities. Bacon, a former resident of Momence, Illinois and graduate of Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix, shared details on bills he introduced and key defense funding measures.
On July 11, 2025, Bacon announced new legislative efforts focused on agriculture and national security. He stated, “This week I introduced two bills to modernize America’s agricultural sector and strengthen our national security. Our national security and our agricultural industry are inextricably linked. These bills will protect both our farmers & our nation’s future.”
Later that day, Bacon provided further information about one of these proposals. On July 11, 2025, he wrote: “The SOIL Act will finally open the door for beginning farmers & ranchers to obtain financing by allowing producers to be preapproved for FSA Loans. Far too often, beginning farmers & ranchers are unable to be competitive when purchasing land. Purchasing farmland is seasonal &”
In a subsequent post on July 11, 2025, Bacon addressed military funding in the context of global competition. He stated: “Deterrence starts with innovation.
The #FY26NDAA funds next-gen weapons, AI, hypersonics, and unmanned systems to keep America ahead of China, Russia, Iran, and any threat.
