Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, addressed issues related to law enforcement in a series of tweets posted on July 11, 2025. Bacon has consistently voiced support for law enforcement and public safety initiatives throughout his tenure in Congress.
On July 11, 2025, Bacon discussed concerns he heard regarding doxing incidents involving current and former law enforcement officers (LEOs), the impact on their families, and the need for a shared training facility. He also stated that he would not back any legislation preventing Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from concealing their identities during arrests: “We heard concerns about doxing of current & former LEO’s, how it affected them & loved ones, and need for a shared training facility. Lastly, we reiterated our commitment to not support any legislation that would prohibit HSI & ICE from concealing their identities during arrests.”
In a subsequent tweet on July 11, 2025, Bacon reaffirmed his office’s commitment to supporting law enforcement personnel: “Our office is committed to standing by our Law Enforcement and ensuring that the very people who keep us safe are protected.”
Later the same day, Bacon announced the introduction of bipartisan legislation titled “Back the Blue,” co-sponsored with Representative Jared Golden of Maine. The measure aims to increase penalties for those targeting or ambushing law enforcement officers: “I introduced ‘Back the Blue’ bipartisan legislation with @RepGolden from Maine. Law enforcement has been targeted and ambushed multiple times in recent years. There should be stiffer penalties for doing so to protect those who protect us.”
Don Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
