Rep. Don Bacon, who has represented Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, posted several updates on September 17, 2025, addressing topics ranging from state pride to public health and community engagement.
In an early morning post, Bacon expressed state pride by stating, “We are the Volleyball State.” (September 17, 2025).
Later that day, Bacon highlighted concerns about public health and safety regarding asbestos. He wrote, “We know, without a doubt, that asbestos is a dangerous, deadly substance. There is no reason we should be importing asbestos when we know there is a direct connection to mesothelioma and other cancers.” (September 17, 2025).
Addressing his constituents’ interest in civic participation, Bacon invited Nebraskans visiting Washington D.C. to take part in a regular tradition: “Planning a trip to Washington, D.C.? Join your fellow Nebraskans for this time-honored tradition every Wednesday when Congress is in session. RSVP and learn more here:” (September 17, 2025).
Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix. Bacon succeeded Brad Ashford as the representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District beginning with his first term in Congress in 2017.
