Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently shared his views on international security and cyber defense in a series of posts on his social media account.
On July 24, 2025, Bacon commented on the ongoing conflict involving Russia, stating, “That’s what Putin said. He has now lost 1,000,000 Russian casualties and his economy is in shambles.”
The following day, he addressed the longevity of terrorist leaders by posting on July 25: “Terrorists and their leaders have short life spans.”
Later that same day, Bacon raised concerns about U.S. preparedness for modern cyber threats. He wrote: “I’m concerned we are not correctly organized for the cyber fight we find ourselves in today, let alone a more complex & consequential future fight. I want to ensure our Cyber team is postured right for a potential fight with China over Taiwan.”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and also attended the University of Phoenix.
