Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several national and regional issues on his Twitter account, including cybersecurity leadership, trade relations with Mexico, and challenges facing American farmers.
On August 7, 2025, Rep. Bacon raised concerns about a key vacancy in military cyber defense leadership: “Four months ago the USCYBERCOM Commander, General Tim Haugh, was fired for no reason. This critical leadership position remains vacant… four months later. Our energy grid, financial institutions, hospitals and military are under cyber attack everyday.”
Later that day, Bacon commented on U.S.-Mexico trade relations: “Trade with Mexico is largely a win-win. They export produce we don’t grow or cannot grow enough, and Nebraska exports corn, soybeans, popcorn and ethanol to Mexico. We should strengthen the USMCA agreement that President Trump negotiated in his first term.”
In another post on August 7, he highlighted economic difficulties for farmers: “Farmers who grow corn & soybeans have faced headwinds for the past COUPLE of YEARS with LOW prices on the crops they grow but with HIGH prices on fertilizers and herbicides. The tariff war has not helped. The bottom line is we need new markets for our corn & soybeans. Expanding”
Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
