Rep. Don Bacon, who represents Nebraska’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on March 22, 2026, reflecting on both solemn and celebratory moments.

In his first post of the day, Bacon addressed the return of a fallen service member to Nebraska: “It was a sad day to see our fallen hero, Master Sgt Noah Tietjens, return to Nebraska. Our hearts broke for the family. We pray for God’s comfort to Noah’s loved ones and we honor his service to our great country.” (March 22, 2026).

Later that evening, Bacon shifted focus to sports as he reacted to the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers’ basketball victory: “My heart stopped several times in the last two minutes, and the last shot about gave me the big one. Great win for the Cornhuskers. Sweet Sixteen. GBR.” (March 22, 2026). He followed this with another post sharing his personal reaction: “Me on the last shot in the Huge Cornhusker Sweet Sixteen win.” (March 22, 2026).

Bacon has served in Congress since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017 and currently resides in Papillion. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later attended the University of Phoenix.
