Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district, has shared a series of tweets reflecting on his political career and views on immigration. Bacon, who replaced Brad Ashford in 2017, expressed gratitude to his constituents and addressed misconceptions about his work schedule and stance on immigration.
On July 2, 2025, Rep. Don Bacon tweeted: “I look forward to being part of this community and expanding our friendships. I am grateful to those who voted for me and those who didn’t vote for me. I appreciate the opportunity to serve.” This message underscores his appreciation for the opportunity to serve all constituents regardless of their voting choice.
Later that day, he posted another tweet stating: “The media talking point is not true for at least my situation. I’ve won five elections, but it involves 14-hour days & often working seven days a week including four in DC. I’d like to spend more time with my family & invest my time more in the Omaha area.” Here, Bacon refutes certain media narratives regarding political careers while expressing a desire for more personal time.
In a subsequent tweet on July 2, 2025, Bacon addressed immigration issues: “Without legal immigration, America has a declining population and too few workers to meet the economic needs. Most Americans support legal immigration while rightfully opposing illegal immigration.” This statement highlights his support for legal immigration as essential for meeting economic demands.
Don Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 and later attended the University of Phoenix.
