Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, has reiterated his policy priorities and recent legislative actions through a series of posts on July 11, 2025. Bacon, who succeeded Brad Ashford and resides in Papillion, Nebraska, emphasized his positions on foreign policy, tax legislation, and welfare work requirements.
In a post dated July 11, 2025, Bacon stated: “I ran on supporting Ukraine against Putin’s invasion, standing by Israel and helping Taiwan deter an invasion from China… and won. I’ll do what I promised.”
Later the same day, Bacon addressed recent legislative developments: “The Reconciliation Bill stopped middle-class taxes from going up 20% and the Child Tax Credit from being cut in half. Combined, this saves middle-class families approximately $250 a month. This bill also helps fix our nation’s defenses.”
In another post from July 11, 2025, Bacon responded to criticism regarding his knowledge of welfare work requirements: “The writer suggests I didn’t know about the work requirements in the Reconciliation Bill for Medicaid & SNAP. I support work requirements for healthy adults without children. 20-hours a week working, looking for work, volunteering or taking classes is a small bar. 72% of”
Don Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in 1984 before earning another degree from the University of Phoenix.
