Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, shared several personal and professional reflections on social media in mid-September 2025.
On September 16, Bacon posted about a community milestone: “Honored to celebrate 25 years of Omaha Rapid Response this past Sunday! Thank you to the volunteers and leaders who run toward those in need and bring hope after disaster. Here’s to the next 25 years!” This message highlighted his appreciation for local volunteerism and disaster response efforts.
Later that evening, Bacon reflected on his military service by reconnecting with a former superior officer: “I loved seeing my boss from Iraq, VADM (3-Star) Mark Fox today. He was a great boss and is a great American. 18 years ago… the bonds stay strong.”
In another post from September 17, Bacon expressed a brief political sentiment: “Lincoln = GOP. I scorn you.”
Bacon has served as the representative for Nebraska’s 2nd District since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, he currently resides in Papillion and holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
