Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on September 5, 2025, addressing concerns about U.S. foreign policy and government transparency.

In one tweet at 22:22 UTC, Bacon stated, “This decision is flat out wrong. China does pose a lot of challenges, but Russia is the greatest near-term threat to the US and our allies. Vladimir Putin is a vicious thug & criminal, and his war in Ukraine is only the first step in his plan to remake the former Soviet Union.”

Earlier that evening at 22:20 UTC, Bacon shared a link without further comment: https://t.co/qVwU0xwLr9.

Later at 23:43 UTC, he criticized communication from federal agencies regarding an unspecified issue: “When reporters asked for information, the White House referred them to the Secretary of Defense, who referred them to the Air Force, who said they had no information. Just saying… https://t.co/rIAk9kZeye”

Bacon has represented Nebraska’s 2nd District in Congress since succeeding Brad Ashford in 2017. He was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix.
