Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently posted several comments on social media addressing Pentagon leadership, coffee tariffs, and Senate votes affecting military pay.
On October 16, 2025, Rep. Bacon criticized decisions by civilian leaders at the Pentagon, stating in a post: “An amateur move by the civilian leadership in the Pentagon.”
Later that day, he commented on U.S. coffee tariffs and their impact on consumers: “Two-thirds of Americans drink on average three cups of coffee a day. The U.S. can only grow 1% of our coffee demands. Therefore, why have a tariff on coffee? It doesn’t make sense. Coffee prices are up 21%. The American consumer is paying for it.” This statement comes amid rising concerns about inflation and import policies.
In another post on October 16, Rep. Bacon addressed fellow veterans serving in the Senate who voted against a bipartisan continuing resolution (CR), urging them to reconsider their stance: “To our fellow Veterans in the Senate who voted NO on the bipartisan clean CR, we ask you to reconsider. Our troops deserve their pay, not political games. Country over politics, always.”
Don Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA and also attended the University of Phoenix.
