Simon Latkoczy, former Menke Family Co-Captain and goaltender for the Omaha Mavericks, has signed with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL, according to a March 26 announcement from the team.
Latkoczy completed four years with the Mavericks and was recognized as one of the top goaltenders in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. During his time at Omaha, he became the first Maverick to earn NCHC Goaltender of the Year honors in the 2024-25 season. He also received First Team All-NCHC recognition, was named NCHC Goaltender of the Month for January, and earned NCHC Goaltender of the Week four times.
In addition to these achievements, Latkoczy was selected as Most Outstanding Player at the 2024 Ice Breaker Tournament and received his second career NCHC Academic All-Conference honor. He reached his 100th career appearance on January 24 against Colorado College at Baxter Arena during this past season. This milestone made him only the fifth active Division I goaltender to reach that number, as well as one of just three active NCHC goalies with at least 100 games played.
In that game against Colorado College, Latkoczy made 32 saves while posting a goals-against average of 2.07 and a .941 save percentage. Following this performance, he was named KJ Branding NCHC Goaltender of the Week for a second time during that season. Over his collegiate career with Omaha, he appeared in 110 games and recorded a total of 3,067 saves.
Head coach Mike Gabinet said: “Simon was a tremendous player and leader for our program. He was foundational in helping us reach the NCAA tournament, playing in the NCHC championship game, and being recognized as a top goalie in our conference. We are excited for him turning pro and I know he will do great things.”
