The Washburn Ichabods, featuring former Omaha Central High School standout Aniah Wayne, were defeated 64-55 by the Central Missouri Jennies in the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 13.
The first-round matchup began at 7:30 p.m. at Taylor Center and marked Washburn’s initial tournament contest against Central Missouri.
Omaha Softball will face St. Thomas in a key Summit League series starting April 10 after an eight-game win streak. The Mavericks have achieved their highest-ever mid-major ranking this season and recently celebrated pitcher Alexis Wiggins’ weekly league honor.
Creighton’s softball series against Georgetown has been rescheduled due to rain in the forecast. The teams will now play a doubleheader on Friday and one game Saturday. Fans with Sunday tickets can exchange them for another home game.
These former City of Omaha area high school athletes are set to compete on Friday, April 10.
